Net-a-Porter Beauty - The Summer Kit - First Impressions

Saturday, July 12, 2014

While browsing the interwebz the other day I stumbled across the Net-a-Porter Beauty Summer kit. after some further investigating i found the version available for Australia, which while it wasn't completely the same it had enough of the same products that I was interested. AND it was only $50 compared to the $75 for the US kit!! So of course I scooped it up straight away!

So first off lets compare the two kits

The US Summer Kit - $75 USD (currently sold out)

Includes:

Eyeko + Alexa Chung's 'Eye Do' Liquid Eyeliner in waterproof Carbon Black
Verso Day Cream (full size 50mL)
Kahina Giving Beauty's 'Fez' Body Serum
Hourglass Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss in Lush
SACHAJUAN's Hair Repair
Ren Skincare's Moroccan Rose Otto Bath Oil
Rahua's 100% natural Shampoo & Conditioner Set
Hampton Sun's After Sun Daily Moisturizer
Kilian EDP Travel size Perfumes x 3

This comes to a value of approximately $344 USD.

The Australian Summer Kit (still available)

Includes:

Eyeko + Alexa Chung's 'Eye Do' Liquid Eyeliner in waterproof Carbon Black
Verso Day Cream (full size 50mL)
Kahina Giving Beauty's 'Fez' Body Serum
Hourglass Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss in Lush
SACHAJUAN's Hair Repair
Ren Skincare's Moroccan Rose Otto Bath Oil
Rahua's 100% natural Shampoo & Conditioner Set

This comes to a value of $244 AUD

The kit works out to be a fairly even split between hair care, skin care and makeup.

Swatches of Lush and Eye Do

The only items you don't get in the Aussie kit is the perfumes (7.5mL each) and the Hampton Sun moisturiser. For me that wasn't a big issue as my main interests were the Verso day cream (which by the way is a full size bottle that here costs $135 at Mecca Cosmetica >.< ), Hourglass lip gloss and the Eyeko eyeliner.

So far the Verso day cream has been awesome - my skin has been an awful mix of extreme dry patches and flakiness and clogged pores through my T-zone - and this seems to quench the dryness without making me break out or blocking any more pores. Another nice surprise was the Rahua shampoo and conditioner set - it's 100% natural and vegan which is great, but it does a fantastic job of making my hair soft and shiny and just generally healthy. I didn't get too much volumizing out of it, but I never have from anything claiming to be a volume enhancing hair product.

Overall I think either kit is great value for money and includes some really lovely luxury items you can try out.
